A Trendsetting Back Label

My wine back label writing was recognized for excellence by judges at the 2024 PACK Design Awards. In a story titled “The Top 3 Wine Packaging Trends of 2024,” my label copy for the Ancient Peaks “Pearl” Cabernet Sauvignon ($72) was referenced for the trend of “Effective Use of the Back Label for Wine Info.” Of the Ancient Peaks label, the judges remarked: "The back label has a slew of useful info...The description of the place is spot-on, the layers of geology and soil info that influence the wine character are terrific for an upscale wine enthusiast." Here’s an excerpt from this label: Our estate Margarita Vineyard stands alone and apart as the only vineyard in the Santa Margarita Ranch AVA, unfolding along mountainous fossil-riddled terrain just 14 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Few vineyards are blessed with such a majestic convergence of diverse soils, marine cooling and rugged beauty.
